Please explore the sections below to become familiar with the pre-event activities including the mandatory bike and helmet check and the optional orientation session.
Again in 2015 – Please bring your child with his/her bike and helmet to one of the participating stores below or at the race on race day for a mandatory bike and helmet check. You will not be able to get your race packet unless you have the proper sticker proving your bike and helmet have been checked. This is for your child’s safety! We have found bikes with no brakes and helmets that do not fit. Please do your best to go to a pre-race location so that you can move quickly through packet pick-up race morning.
If the bike or helmet is not in proper working order your child will not be allowed to participate.
Pre-Race Bike and Helmet Check will be at three (3) locations before the race from May 22nd until June 6th:

Inspect your child’s bike for general condition with emphasis on tires and brakes. Also, it is mandatory that the ends of the handlebars have plastic plugs (called bar end plugs). Bike helmets must be approved by CPSC, SNELL or ANSI (label inside). Look for sharp edges on the pedals. Again, if the bike is deemed unsafe your child will not be allowed to participate.
Attending one of the Pre-Race Checks will help everyone speed up the registration process the morning of the race. The Pre-Race Checker will give you a sticker/bracelet that will show you have been pre-checked for safety. If you cannot make it to the pre-race locations, please give yourself plenty of time (could be an HOUR line) the morning of the race for a bike check and proper fitting helmet inspection.
You MUST bring your child with his/her bike and helmet. You MUST get a sticker/bracelet from Mike’s Bikes in Los Gatos or Sports Basement in Sunnyvale or Campbell in order to bypass the “Bike and Helmet Check Station” on Race Day.
For those parents/guardians and young athletes that are unfamiliar with the De Anza College campus or have questions about the event we will be holding a non-mandatory orientation at the college.
Where: De Anza College Pool entrance near Parking Lot C next to the soccer field.
When: Saturday, June 6th
We will answer questions and discuss the three events of the triathlon: the swim leg in the De Anza College pool; the bike leg through the De Anza campus roads; and the run on the De Anza College track. The bike course will not be toured due to its length but the exit to and entrance from the bike route will be identified. Parents/guardians may drive the bike course following the orientation. We anticipate that the orientation will take no more than 1-to-1.5 hours.
De Anza College has a $3 per car parking fee. Permits are purchased at meters located in the lots. Meters take dollar bills, coins or credit cards. No change is available so please come prepared.
